An incredible — and intimate — African wilderness experience

You don’t have to rough it to experience Africa’s legendary wildlife. Camp Kuzuma — one of just three five-star establishments in Chobe — is located in a spectacular setting by a well-frequented watering hole in the pristine Kazuma Forest reserve.

Accredited by the Green Choice certification scheme, the Camp Kuzuma overlooks the plains of the Kazuma Pans and is situated in a busy elephant corridor between The Chobe National Park in Botswana and the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. It’s also under an hour’s drive from Kasane airport.

With only five luxury tented suites in the private concession and traversing rights to over 20,000 hectares, the camp offers an incredible — and intimate — African wilderness experience.

Situated under a canopy of Mopane trees, each luxury tented suite has a sundeck and is spacious inside, measuring over 520sq ft, with super king size beds and overhead fans.

A nostalgic ambience prevails with safari memorabilia and furnishings reminiscent of the days of legendary explorer David Livingstone, as well as en suite canvas bathrooms with high-back Victorian baths, double basins, double internal showers as well as cool, refreshing outdoor showers.

Stylish elevated wooden walkways connect the luxury tented suites to the main guest areas, where an open-plan bar, lounge and dining area extend on to a wooden deck with a sparkling pool overlooking a floodlit waterhole. It’s the perfect place to relax and take in amazing views.

Guests dine on gourmet cuisine with a uniquely African flair, and can also indulge in pampering spa treatments, including massages and facials, in the Bush Spa.

But the highlight is, of course, the prolific wildlife, which includes wildebeest, elephant, buffalo, antelope, sable, giraffe, lion and leopard.

Activities at Camp Kuzuma, tailored to seeing these incredible mammals include game drives in four-wheel drive vehicles (in the early morning, at sunset and at night), guided walks on foot, fishing trips and bird watching, with over 380 different species found in the region.

Cruises on the Chobe river, cultural tours and day trips to Victoria Falls, which is located around two hours’ away, are also on offer for guests who fancy a change from game viewing.
