bouberg restaurants

Where ambience is concerned Petits Fours has it in bucket loads. The property that houses the eatery is a heritage site, which is over 200 years old. It stands witness to where the first settlers in Cape Town may have put foot on shore and met the indigenous people of Africa in 1652. The décor is simultaneously classy and homely, with white-washed wooden furniture punctuated by fully-loaded cake stands, black-board hearts hanging from the ceiling and small wire creations decorating the flower pots.

The history of the beautiful Blouberg area, the divine food selection and the charming décor are all contributing factors to the warm character of Petits Fours. It is a character you will undoubtedly fall in love with, as where else can you enjoy lovingly-prepared, fresh foods from our revolutionary menu, or choose from the wide variety of over 30 different pastries and cakes, baked on site daily at a lovely location on the West Coast?

True Fishermen at heart – Ons Huisie

blouberg restaurant

True fishermen at heart – they were the ones who put Bloubergstrand on the map! Acquaint yourself with the firm stare of the three brothers at the bar area. The other prominent family involved in the history of “Ons Huisie” and Bloubergstrand, the Boonzaier family, also stand their ground somewhere in the restaurant.Bloubergstrand restaurant

The owners of Ons Huisie have tried to restore this magnificent heritage sight in such a way as to capture the true feel of the fisherman’s cottage that it formerly was. At Ons Huisie, you are invited to close your eyes, hear and smell the sea, and imagine a time when life was harsh and simple, yet beautiful and fulfilling, a time when the reward of a day’s hard work was the glistening bodies of the fish filling the nets.

The menu at Ons Huisie reflects an eclectic mix of traditional West Coast meets true Afrikaner boerekos. The Afrikaans culture is an inextricable part of the history of “Ons Huisie”. Experience the many traditional names and words that form part of the menu and relax when music takes you to places so familiar to some, but new and exciting to many others. For starters we recommend the Boy Boonzaier Fishcakes or the creamy Strandloper’s Mussel Pot, followed by a traditional main course such as the Oven Baked Snoek with apricot & butter sauce, or the ostrich bobotie. End your dining experience on a sweet note with Cape Bread Pudding or Souskluitjies with a generous helping of cream.
